Experience and Current Work
Dr. Ariana Thompson-Lastad is a medical sociologist who joined the Osher Center in 2018 as a postdoctoral scholar in the Training in Research in Integrative Medicine (TRIM) Fellowship Program. Her research includes collaborations with community health centers to understand the implementation and outcomes of group medical visits and other innovative models of care. As a BIRCWH Scholar at UCSF, Dr. Thompson-Lastad is conducting research on a model that combines group medical visits with fruit and vegetable prescriptions at community health centers. She aims to understand how social and structural determinants of health can be addressed in perinatal care, with a focus on social isolation and food insecurity.
