This group teaches self-help skills to incorporate into your daily routine to help reduce physical and emotional discomfort, increase your sense of well-being, and engage more fully in each moment. Each session covers a specific theme and introduces techniques that you can apply in your everyday life.
Topics covered include:
- Coping with Difficult Emotions and Uncertainty
- Self-Compassion
- Mindfulness
- Coping with Cancer-Related Fatigue
- Coping with Pain and Other Physical Symptoms
- Coping with Anxiety
- Communication
- Finding Meaning in the Face of Hardship
Sessions will cover practical tips for managing the above topics. You'll learn evidence-based techniques such as but not limited to: cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) techniques, relaxation exercises like progressive muscle relaxation, and other tools tailored to your personal experiences. It is designed to empower participants to follow national guidelines associated with improved mental health and cancer outcomes.
The content is tailored to UCSF oncology patients who are actively receiving treatment or on a break from treatment.
The simple, evidence-based lifestyle and emotional well being practices presented in this series are designed to complement cancer therapy to improve symptoms, quality of life, and treatment outcomes.
