Experience and Current Work
Dr. Jessica M. Harrison is a sociologist with expertise in the organization and politics of healthcare, spanning the areas of reproductive health and mental health. Her research critically examines how health professions are established and organized, the consequences of cultural and structural reliance on the medical model, and health-related stigma. Her work as a social scientist is informed by a career providing mental healthcare in hospitals, primary care, community-based settings, and independent practice, always with a focus on reproductive life experiences including abortion, infertility, and the perinatal period.
