Experience
James Mitchell teaches Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and leads the Mindfulness Alumni Programs at the Osher Center. He focuses on the connection between and application of psychology, philosophy, and mind-body practices for health and well-being. From 2016 to 2019 he collaborated with UCSF’s Department of Surgery (https://mindfulsurgeon.ucsf.edu/collaborators.aspx), taught mindfulness to medical residents and faculty, and helped to create ESRT (Enhanced Stress Resiliency Training). He is also adjunct faculty in the departments of Mind/Body Medicine at Saybrook University, the RN to BSN Nursing program at Samuel Merritt University, and Health Education at San Francisco State University.
