Osher Center integrative oncologist Donald Abrams, MD, has published A Survey of Licensed Acupuncturists in the San Francisco Bay Area, in the January 2017 issue of Integrative Cancer Therapies, a peer-reviewed quarterly journal focused on a comprehensive model of integrative cancer treatment.

The survey was created to find out more information about what percentage of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) practitioners care for cancer patients, what training they have had in cancer care, what interventions they utilize, what their outcomes are, and what communication they have with the patients’ oncologists.

The survey was sent to all 2213 licensed acupuncturists in the nine-county San Francisco Bay Area, and a total of 472 responded. You can read the results in the complete article on the Integrative Cancer Therapies website.

We are grateful to Drew and Ellen Bradley for their generous donation to the UCSF Osher Center for Integrative Medicine, which supported Dr. Abrams’ time on this study.
