3/21: Developing Habits that Contribute to Faculty Wellness
The 2017 UCSF Education Showcase will be held on March 19-21, which will include keynote lectures, workshops and scholarly presentations on health professions education. As part of this showcase, two Osher Center presenters, Anand Dhruva, MD and Joe Cook, MA will present a workshop on “Developing Habits that Contribute to Faculty Wellness: Cultivating Resilience” on Tuesday, March 21, from 3:00 – 5:00 pm at 530 Parnassus.
Faculty are experiencing high levels of stress and burnout. While a variety of programs are proposed to help with faculty resilience, faculty need tools that they can use in the context of everyday work, as well as with their students.
At the end of this session, participants will:
- Identify strategies that they can use in the workplace to cope with stress and burnout.
- Describe the relationship between long term habits and use of these strategies.
- Recognize habits that would be valuable to suggest to learners.
Attendees will get to practice different strategies to consider what works well for them, as well as discuss how to bring up wellness strategies with their learners.
There is no fee for the event, which is targeted to UCSF educators, but please register online in advance.
