Salem Kamalay, PharmD

Salem Kamalay, PharmD, BCPS, BCGP, BCSCP, is a clinical pharmacist and Associate Clinical Professor at UCSF. He has worked in health-system pharmacy for more than a decade, mainly in general surgery, internal medicine, and cardiology. At UCSF Medical Center, his work includes direct patient care, but also supports pharmacy operations, and teaching and precepting pharmacy students and residents.
Dr. Kamalay earned his PharmD from the University of Michigan and completed an ASHP-accredited PGY1 pharmacy practice residency at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He is board certified in pharmacotherapy, geriatric pharmacy, and sterile compounding.
Education has been a consistent part of his work throughout his career. He has taught and precepted pharmacy students and PGY1 residents, served on UCSF residency and research committees, and taught clinical courses for pharmacy, dentistry, and pharmacy technician programs. He has received the UCSF School of Pharmacy Dean's Apple Award for Teaching for seven consecutive years, from 2020 through 2026.
