Experience and Current Work
Paige L. Prater is a PhD candidate studying sociology at UCSF. Her research focuses on the social and structural dimensions of reproductive health equity, including how social structures and health systems shape bodily autonomy and reproductive trajectories. Her dissertation research examines pregnancy and perinatal healthcare expriences among Asian diasporic communites in the U.S., including integrative health use and access. She joined the Osher Center as an IHEAR summer fellow, and contributes to research on community midwifery care and postpartum health equity. Prior to starting her PhD, she worked in reproductive health policy and advocacy at the local, national, and global level. She also leads research and evaluation at Ipas US and is an abortion doula in the Bay Area.
