Jeannette Lager, MD, is a minimally invasive gynecology surgeon who cares for patients with endometriosis, fibroids, and adenomyosis. Utilizing cutting-edge minimally invasive techniques for both medical and surgical management, Dr. Lager is dedicated to ensuring the best outcomes for patients.
As the Section Chief of Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery, Dr. Lager leads a multidisciplinary team at a center that offers comprehensive gynecologic care. In addition, Dr. Lager serves as the Associate Director of the Comprehensive Endometriosis Center and is a key expert at the UCSF Comprehensive Fibroid Center. In these roles, Dr. Lager provides consultations on a range of treatment options, including nonsurgical approaches, minimally invasive surgeries, and interventional radiological procedures.
Dr. Lager is deeply committed to educating the next generation of doctors. As the Director of Medical Student Education in OB/GYN, she shapes the curriculum for medical students throughout their four years, regularly lecturing on a range of topics. Her research focuses on ensuring that OB/GYN education is inclusive and covers the diverse aspects of the field. She also develops and teaches surgical skills modules, including those for conditions like fibroids and endometriosis, for medical students.
Dr. Lager’s research focuses on enhancing the identification of Deep Infiltrating Endometriosis through advanced imaging techniques, specifically Estrogen Receptor Targeted Positron-Emission Tomography/Magnetic Resonance Imaging (PET/MRI). Additionally, she is actively involved in educational research, working on curriculum development for endometriosis and surgical education, utilizing innovative methods such as simulation and video to improve training and outcomes in gynecologic surgery.
Dr. Lager is a compassionate and highly skilled gynecologist focused on patient well-being. She received her medical degree with honors from the University of Minnesota Medical School. Her advanced training includes being a fellow of the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists and holding a Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery (MIGS) Focused Practice Designation with the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is dedicated to combining her clinical expertise with genuine care, ensuring patients feel supported and understood throughout their treatment journey.
