Experience

Tanya Henderson is a health and wellness coach, using food, herbs and yoga as daily medicine to guide her clients to their personal best. As founder and director of Sacred Roots Wellness, she has been expanding her practice since 2006 and continues to enrich her work through the deepening of her own movement and mindfulness practices.

In addition to private practice, Ms. Henderson spends her time teaching yoga and mindfulness to youth in predominantly low-income communities of color as a tool to help them transform their own lives.

Ms. Henderson became certified in yoga instruction through the Niroga Institute where she birthed her passion for bridging spirituality and social justice.

She also earned certifications in nutritional and herbal medicine from Bauman College of Holistic Nutrition & Culinary Arts and the Ohlone Center of Herbal Studies in Berkeley, California. In addition, Ms. Henderson holds an M.S. in Journalism from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism in New York City.

Personal Statement and Approach

I think that the greatest gift one can offer is that of self-compassion. It sounds simple yet requires that same organic time and attention we would offer a best friend--one step at a time; from there, everything flows.
