Integrative Medicine Physician

 

 


Rick McKinney, MD is an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at UCSF and also works at the Osher Center for Integrative Medicine.

At the Osher Center, Dr. McKinney offers a holistic practice that combines his expertise in conventional medicine and his familiarity with a wide range of complementary modalities. He enjoys working with his patients to uncover their own paths, collaboratively designing individualized treatment plans, coordinating care, and supporting each person on his or her way to health. He offers an integrative approach to medical care with an appreciation of each person’s unique healing journey.

He is a board certified Family Practice physician who has been in practice since 1981. Dr. McKinney is also a board certified in Holistic Medicine by the American Board of Holistic Medicine.

His teaching includes a holistic perspective that combines his expertise in conventional medicine and his familiarity with a wide range of complementary modalities. He formerly taught "The Healer with A Thousand Faces: Theories and Traditions" of Healing at the College of Marin. He works at SFGH teaching residents and students, and directing the Family Health Center's Minor Procedure Clinic. He does not see patients directly at SFGH.

Dr. McKinney's special interests are Integrative Consultation, Nutrition, Wellness, Inflammation and Disease, Spirituality and Healing, and Physician Well Being.
