Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine Acupuncture has been used for more than two thousand years in China to promote well-being and treat illness. In Chinese medicine, health is believed to result from the free flow of energy, called chi, in the body. Illness is attributed to blockages in this energy flow, which can be relieved by the placement of thin needles at various points in the body. Practitioners are licensed acupuncturists who are trained in Chinese Medicine. Therapies may include acupuncture, herbal medicine, massage, counseling and nutrition. Our practitioners have over 25 years of experience and specialty training in treating patients with a wide range of medical conditions.
Biofeedback, a technique in which patients are taught to improve their health by using signals from their own body, is a valuable adjunct to many complementary therapies. It is particularly useful in the management of stress, anxiety, chronic pain, musculoskeletal problems, hypertension, cardiac problems, headaches and for meditation enhancement. Practitioners are RN's that are nationally certified biofeedback technicians.
